Long time ago, there was a small girl, about seven years old, lived in a small town, with her mother and two brothers. Her dad was away from home working in other place.
Every Chinese New Year, her mother will bring her and her two siblings to the grandparents’ home to have the annual reunion dinner. All uncles, aunts and cousins will be there too. It was a great reunion and fun, sitting together on the round-shaped dinner table. All of us were ordered to help the grandparents and aunts in preparing the dinner. At least 10 dishes were served for the dinner. Among the dishes, there must be fish, soups, eggs, chickens and vegetables. Every dish was very tasty and abundantly prepared! So, that, it will be left over. According to elderly, there must be left over, hope that, it goes the same to our finances, every year there will be lots of left over finances.
After the reunion dinner, all of us will sit together in the living room watching television and chit chatting, while waiting for 12 midnight because at 12 midnight, fireworks will be put up!
This little girl was sitting in front of a classic old clock. Listening to the tic-tac sounds coming from the clock. She, later on, asked her grandfather, why there were two small holes on the clock. The grandfather then explained to her that the holes were for them to wind the clock every morning for it to continue tic-tac-ing till the day. For her, it was fun winding the clock every morning.
Ever since then, she set a name for the old clock as grandfather clock, and whenever she came across the grandfather clocks, she will look for the two holes, trying to wind them.
Till these days, every morning, she has to wind her own grandfather clock in the living room. For her, it was a way to make her awake early in the morning.
Anyone of you guys intersted in grandfather clock?
